Hi there!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, welcome you to my blog, and open a new chapter in my life.
My name is Abby and I am currently residing in Olympia, Wash. and I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Gender and Identity studies. I dreamed of a life in the media industry, but have since learned that my heart is in advocacy, sharing my story, and empowering others to create a life that allows them to flourish.
From the time I was in middle school, I was obsessed with the news. I watched Seattle's King5 News every morning before school, and dreamed of the day I'd be reporting for them, and one day, a morning anchor. I love the idea of a career in journalism. I was my high schools yearbook design editor then Editor-In-Chief before working for my university's student run newspaper for three years. I wrote stories, took pictures, created layouts and even started recording audio stories for easier listening. From high school through the day I graduated college, I thought I would be a journalist. Then... Trump was elected. I am fearful for the state of journalism, and I chose to take my career in a different direction - speaking my truth and empowering others.
I welcome you on this journey with me. I am exploring what my career can become with the limitless nature of the internet and the power in stepping up, speaking out, and inspiring others. I struggled with my mental health for years before realizing that my life was not reflective of what I wanted. I wanted a life of freedom, writing, connecting with others, and a sense of family.
I welcome you to this new chapter. For my life, and for yours. I hope to inspire you to make changes that will allow you to live a life you feel is perfectly reflective of what you need. That you feel fulfilled, loved, and passionate about what you do every single day.
I am proud of you.
I believe in you.
You can do this.
Together we will redefine what success means. We will use our voice to inspire others and build them up. It is time to let go of the negative and live a life of optimism.
